WASHINGTON STATE
GENERAL SEASON GUIDED BEAR HUNTS

GUARANTEED OVER THE COUNTER TAGS!
Opens August 1st

Washington State guided Black bear hunts take place in several locations throughout the different regions of Washington state. We are legally permitted to hunt bears in five of Washingtons bear regions but we have our favorite areas. Fall bear season opens August 1 in several units. This is a great time to find bears in open areas as they feed on berries both in higher elevations and in the western foothills throughout the logged areas know as clearcuts. The Northern units of the  state produce some fabulous color phased bears ranging from cinnamon, chocolate and black. Many areas that we hunt deer on the Eastern slopes of the Cascade mountains are also good areas for bear. This gives our deer hunters an opportunity on harvesting both deer and bear on the same trip. Though Washington state is well known for its high bear populations you must do your homework thouroughly and be patient to be successful.

METHODS OF HUNTING- Our prefered Methods of hunting include glassing feeding areas and spot and stalk. Spending the time in bear country with a good pair of optics will be your key to success. Many unsuccessful bear hunts are due to not enough time spent glassing.  If we can spot the bears in advance then calling is always a favorite. We love to get bears close and there is no better way to get them close than to have them come to you. This method works extremely well if you can spot them in advance. Depending on the weather conditions and time of the year we may also still hunt through the timber or hike long ridges glassing into deep canyons and side hills as we cover ground.

Although Washington State does not require a person to have a guides license, you are required to have a business license and be legally permitted for all of the land in which you conduct business unless it is private. Federal, State, and WDFW lands all require permits and Liability insurance to cover client injury. You MUST have a special use permit on all State, WDFW and Federal lands. There are many people claiming to be guides in this state who are operating illegally.  They operate without Liability insurance and without permits. Hiring an illegal outfitter/guide puts you and your hunt at risk.
